Some of our questions have finally been answered about the crafting system. (In case you missed the news post, check it out here.) So what does everyone think about how they are planning on implimenting it? Do the crafters out there like how they plan on setting it up? If so why, if not why not?

be it sharp...pointy... or even dull.. as long as it kills things i dont care
yes craftin looks awsome... it adds a special flare that is not seen in other games....
i wonder if they will allow you to name high quality weapons you make...that'd be cool

So this means if we aren't the crafting type, we know who to go to to get our stuff!

Oh yeah. We have a couple crafters in our kinship. I really do like the way they are setting thigs up in the game as far as crafting goes. I'm not too econo-savvy, but I am fairly certain that this will drive the in-game economy to very nice levels, which is good for everyone involved.

And the latest Dev Diary is all about crafting!
I'm a little confused about it all still. I'm going to have read it a few more times before I understand I think.

I like it because it seems challening, specifically the Scholar crafting seeing how you get materials formloot. therefor really good buffs can only be aquired by earning it hopefully they will make it challenging to there arent any twinks I suppose.

I think I understand how it will work from that diagram. Lets say you want to be take the Armsman crafting profession. Basically, you will be a Weaponsmith and you will be able to support yourself by using prospector skills to gather your items. However, somethings will require materials you cannot get, and those items will have to be acquired from someone else who is a Woodworker. The Woodsman then is able to support himself via also being a Forester, but from time to time will also require materials from a Farmer. The one profession that is different from this is the Historian. The main profession for Historian is Scholar, but they have no gathering profession to be able to support themselves. According to the article, they will only be able to get the materials they need from loot, Farmers, or Weaponsmiths.
Does that make sense?

So all the crafting will be dependant on others to get some of your materials? Hum, an intresting way to build a player run economy. I kinda like it.

So far I like how the crafting system looks/sounds. If you just like to dabble in crafting you can still make yourself some decent weapons or armor... But if you really like crafting you can go beyond what you can do by yourself and buy/trade for the supplies you need to make the really good stuff.
I hope there is a lot more to crafting then most games as it is one part that i do adore! So far it sounds like there will be!

From everything I've read so far, I think you wish will be granted. It sounds like you'll be able to spend many, many happy hours crafting away.

Found a nice site which has some good info on Crafting and Vocations, here's the Link.
I'm hoping to be a weaponsmith, that can cook, and that either has Scholarly abilities or Woodwork abilities.
...What about you guys?
Edit: I think thejeni's link is broken.

Yes it seems my link is broken. I tried looking for it again, but then saw the date was 5/06, so I figured there is more up todate info out there now.
I still don't have much intrest in doing anything other than collecting. I would much rather be able to pick up everything I see when I'm wandering around places I probably should be.
