Ok, I was in BETA, but had such horrible lag issues, we didn't buy it. Decided to wait and see if it would be better after upgrading some stuff on the comp. We are now comtemplating trying out the free dl to see if it is better, and I was reading some posts and saw something about them adding Taxidermy to the vocations? lol So, this is someone that sells stuff to put in your house? And they have houses now? LOL Again, yes, I am behind. Truly makes me want to check it out again.

Well, it's good to see you're back- and I also had huge lag problems in beta, and post-release, but upgrading hardware has removed it 100%.
A Taxidermy is someone who trades tropies, dropped from monsters, that you can have mounted on the wall, in your house. I'm ceratin they aren't adding 'taxidermy' to the vocations (player crafting) but it's possible they may be adding some taxidermy-related recipes to the already exising crafting system.
Houses are a great new feature released, possibly with book 11, you pay 2-12g for a house + 50-500s per week. You choose what location you want your house in (shire, bree, ere-dluin, and the dwarf one) and then choose what neighbourhood you will belong to, and from there you can choose one of the houses.

Ahh...so not a vocation, but an NPC that you can bring trophies that fall from baddies. I get yah. Creepy still, lol but cool. Very cool about the houses too. Hmmm...it would be soo hard to decide where. Can a hobbit live in Dwarfland? and etc?
Ok..think, I will definitely have to see if the upgrades worked. lol The game was just too much fun during BETA last year and I was very disappointed not getting it, though I knew if the lag stayed, I would have either gray hair or no monitor. lol
Thanks for the info, and keep sharing everyone. I will keep in touch for when we are on again. :)

Yep, you can choose to live in any of the housing areas, as you please. I was sorely tempted to live in the dwarvern areas; and the hobbit areas, if it wasn't for the low roofs.
Good to see more peeps in LotRO amp! ;)

Cool, this was a great topic. I found the taxidermist in Bree but he was not interested in any of the trophies I had on my person at the time, but now I know what they are for. Thanks and of course credibility on that post, oh yes!

You can usually recognise Taxidermy trophies by the crafting-green background, and they only drop from certain mobs. If you were interested you can hunt some Barghests in the Barrow Downs, Bree for their trophy-items, though I'd imagine the drop rate is quite slim.

Just wanted to update that I have found since I am FAR from owning a house, that a good way to make money is to mount the trophy fish I catch then sell them, instead of just selling them right away to a vendor. You don't make a ton of money, but it is more than a copper, and every bit helps while saving for a house and horse. lol
